questions
Do you take my insurance?
Currently I can take Aetna, Cigna, BCBS (Anthem), and United Healthcare.

How much will I pay with my insurance?
Copays and deductibles get super confusing. The best way to know for sure what you will have to pay is to reach out directly to your insurance company. We will do our best to verify the correct amount, but sometimes the info we're given at first ends up not being correct once the EOB (explanation of benefits) goes through the first time.

What if I don't have insurance?
With no insurance, the out of pocket cost is $120.

Do you offer a sliding scale?
There are limited spaces for sliding scale; if $120 feels unattainable let me know and we can explore these options together.

What can I expect?
The first session, or intake, is where I get super nosy and ask a LOT of questions. My goal in this is to learn about your history and your goals. After that, it's up to you! I'll provide some gentle guidance to keep us on track when it seems helpful, but otherwise we can talk about whatever you want. It's your time.

Are sessions in person or virtual?
Either way is fine with me! For virtual to be most effective, you need to have a reliable WIFI connection and a safe, private place free of distractions to have your session. My biggest boundary with this is that you cannot be driving - in your car is fine, but pulled over in a safe place. And anytime you're in a place different than you normally are, I'll need to know where - just for safety!

Can we have a consult first?
Absolutely! The initial 15 minute consult is free and encouraged. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you have, give me an idea of what you're wanting to work on, and for the two of us to make sure we're a good fit.

How long does therapy take?
Unfortunately there is no one size fits all. Some people feel better after just a few sessions, some people benefit from more long-term support. We can figure that out together!
What kind of issues do you work with?
I have experience with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, religious trauma, sexual violence, domestic violence, first responders, OCD, gender expression, polyamory/ENM, grief, and suicidal ideation.
What if I've had negative experiences with therapy in the past?
This is unfortunately not uncommon, and I'm excited that you're giving it another try. The therapeutic relationship is like any other - they're all unique. If you feel comfortable, sharing your experience with therapy in the past is a great way to work through any past issues and give me guidance on what has and has not worked for you.

Do you write letters for gender affirming care?
Yes! You do not need to be a client for this. I will ask to meet for a virtual consult, and will provide the letter at no cost to you, per GALAP standards.
What if I have more questions?
No problem! Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule your consult today.
