Hi, I'm Shannon Bruckner, LCSW, founder of Bruckner Counseling. I built this practice around the belief that therapy should feel human: less jargon, less judgment, less pretending, and a willingness to gently call bullshit when old patterns, shame, or fear are running the show.

Our space is intentionally focused on comfort, where you can show up as your whole self, whoever that is. Even if you're not sure what that looks like because you're exhausted from chasing "shoulds."

Everyone deserves a space where they can show up as they are. My support does not depend on who you are, who you love, how you identify, or who you aspire to become.

Together, we'll unpack the scary parts of life, laugh when it helps, and probably drop a few f-bombs along the way.

Accessibility: We are on the ground floor, with wheelchair access at the back door. Let us know if you need support in this area.

In person services for adults in Watkinsville, Georgia, just outside of Athens. Telehealth available across Georgia and South Carolina.

A soft place to land

for the irreverent and beautifully messy

  • the divorced mom who takes care of literally everyone but herself

  • the nonbinary university student exploring what gender and identity means for their experience

  • the retired first responder recovering from opiate addiction and learning what it means to do more than survive

  • the hospital nurse navigating polyamorous relationships

  • the working professional with scary, intrusive thoughts that make them question everything

  • the survivor of a demanding religion, now exploring what sexuality can mean

  • the adult child of a narcissistic parent engaging in boundaries for the first time

Bring your coffee, your emotional support water bottle, or just yourself; kick off your shoes and let's get to work!

As much as I'd love to clone myself, science continues to frown on that idea.

One of the hardest parts of this work is knowing I can't be the right therapist—or have space—for everyone who reaches out. That's why I'm excited to welcome Tameron Smith, LMSW to Bruckner Counseling, someone I'm genuinely proud to recommend.
